Thanks 3DMON. Sorry guyz. Like we said, it was a crazy rush but we wanted to make sure you guyz go them. To be honest, it doesn't make any sense because one computer burned all of one disc and the other burned all of the others. We must have gotten it mixed up somehow just not sure how. Hello guys, It has been real quiet on the Phlatbot front, thought there would be more projects and talk about the Phlatbot and the projects and builds.. I am getting ready to order my Ramps 1.4 kit and there is an option to get one with an lcd screen. Is this worth picking up or is it a waste of $$$ ??? Thanks, Larry
Hey Larry, I have mine built, but I still need to set it up. Funny how life gets in the way sometimes. I'm using the Sanguinololu board so can't comment on the LCD. I will post some stuff once I get it sorted out. Tim
Hi Larry, I was just about to add to my post on my experiences and some things I've made keep an eye out. As far as the lcd screen... Personally I would think it to be a waste. I haven't seen where I would even need it or the benefits from it.

Well, I finally found some time to get back to my PhlatBot! All I lack at this point is to extend the wires for the extruder, extruder stepper, and fans, the I should be ready to flash the firmware to the board and make this thing start moving on its own. The only thing I have left to order is some filament. I'm thinking I'll get a roll each of ABS and PLA, but plan to start with the PLA. Now I've gotta start researching to figure out where to get all the software... Attached files
Looks great Mike! The software I am using is Repetier http://www.repetier.com/documentation/repetier-host/ It has Slic3r built into it as well as a Repetier version of the Marlin firmware that you can flash the Arduino with. (you can just use marlin as well if you like) Its nice because everything you need is in one place. Hope this helps Have fun Mike your almost there Brother! Mark and Trish
Thanks, PAULE! This thing, like every other PhlatBoyZ product I've assembled, has been a total JOY to build. Now I just gotta wrap my brain around all of this new stuff. I'm certain it won't be too bad. I am super motivated by all of the cool things I'll be able to produce with it. Just ordered some PLA and ABS - Woot!
All the wiring is complete and software is installed, and I have made the gantries move! Of course, the steppers, as I wired them, were exactly 180 degrees off (isn't that how it usually works out? LoL). I flipped the plugs and now everything moved in the correct direction. The thermistors are properly feeding back and I am getting heat to the hot-end and bed. Basically, I think all that I have left to do is to level the glass and print a calibration square and start tweaking. Question: In reference to cooling, am I supposed to run the QU-BD extruder's fan at 100% (wired straight to the Power Supply), or is there somewhere I am supposed to plug it in on the RAMPS board? Filament shipped today, so I am close to making stuff!!
Hey Mike great news! You are right there now I wired my circuit fan and my hotend fan direct so that its on 100% all the time this is normally how its done as you never really want these to go out. There is the option to have another cooling fan setup to cool the plastic as it is printed (this is the cooling fan and it is the one controlled though the gcode as you print) This fan usually hangs at an angle(as to not be lower then the hotend tip) from the bottom of the 'L' gantry plate. This cooling fan helps to keep small print areas from melting and also gives you sharper prints. That fan you can hook to the D9 of the Ramps board (The PhlatBot firmware is already set up for this) If you are running another firmware like Repetier you may need to go into the pins.h file and assign D9 to the cooling fan. You can do this through the Arduino environment software. You can select the pins.h tab make your changes save and re-upload the firmware and you should be good to go. Hope this helps Mike. Crash, I will second everything Mark said..run the fan all the time. I have done this on my MendelMax from the start, and have not had any issues. Side note...the dining room table looks nice and protected from "errors." Glad you learned from past builds!
Adding the LCD (aka PanelMax) can be handy for "stand alone" printing, once you get the machine dialed in. It allows you to do everything from the LCD and click encoder that you can do from your host software, and then some, without tying up a computer while printing. Of course, you can use a Raspberry Pi as the host machine running pronterface and connect to it remotely to manage the interface...however that isn't for a first time linux user. The good thing is you can always add it later!
You know, the RaspberryPi is certainly a good idea for controlling this machine. I was thinking about that last night at my HAM meeting where a member showed his serving up data to the web from his weather station. Tim, do you think the Pi has enough oomph to run Repetier? After I get mine tweaked and running, I'm gonna look into this. Update, filament is on the UPS truck for delivery today!
Crash, I don't think so...to run pronterface, you have to strip out the "live draw" component. The video side can handle it, but the memory is an issue. Now, with the new 512 Pi's that are out, it might just be possible...
I am probably one of the last from the original pool of buyers to get started on the machine. I've got some questions on the QU-BD extruder. The are several options listed for the extruder, specifically heater and mount. What options do I want for this? Thanks

Hello, I need some help. I am at the point of my build where I need to install the firmware and drivers for my Arduino. I have been all over the discs I have and there is no mention of how to do this.I hooked up the power supply to the board and nothing, no lights nothing. Is there a jumper I need or is my board doa??
