Note the update to TRUEPLUNGE3.2 in post34443 which incorporates Kwok's group reordering tool and some other fixes and tweaks.

Yes, I know the reordering button icon is horrible. I am not an artist. I seached the web and while there are icons out there, they all have some sort of copyright strings. I just drew one. I'm hoping that whoever did the original icon set will do one for this tool, and one for the pocket tool I'm hoping to get too soon.

I did the TRUEPLUNG3,2 upgrade to my sketchup 7 on windows 8...
I just finished assigning all of my cuts and then hit the generate gcode. A pop up asked if I wanted to generate gcode...I said yes. Next I typed in the output name and hit ok...now sketchup quit responding and I get the blue spinning circle... will it ever come back? Maybe I should go to bed, 12:30 am here.
I noticed a generate gcode button inside the gui where you put in the cut area etc... I clicked it on.
I wish I had saved my work (how many times have I said that in the last 20 years!)

that only pops up when you have 'Generate 3D' ticked. if you only have a flat drawing, it *will* stop responding.

Go read that again, it says 'generate 3D code' and should only be on if you have a 3D lump you want to carve to shape by cutting in zigzags over the top. Not very accurate yet. For all 'flat' cuts, this must be off.

For normal 'cut shapes out of flat foam' this tick must be OFF, and you use the outside and inside cut tools AFTER you have set the bit diameter and other options. Then when you hit the green arrow to generate Gcode you will very quickly get an output file that will very accurately cut what you told it to cut, even if it is the wrong thing (-: There are some excellent instruction videos on using Phlatscript here on the phorums, look for them.

In short, this is not a TRUEPLUNGE bug, though one might consider it an unwanted feature of the 3D cut generator. :embarrassed:

Saving. ... If only I had a dollar for every time I've had to say this......
"CTRL-S saves in just about every application known to windows. so, press it when
    -you stop to think,
    -you scratch your nose,
    -the phone rings,
    -you have an idea,
    -before you start changing anything
    -after you change anything
-before you swap to google to look something up
-any other time you're not actually making changes.
    - and definitely before pressing the button for any tool you have just upgraded!

yea, i should be spanked, probably get a d on my next performance review! Thanks for the help and for making the new mods. The ability to reorder and make smarter cuts should help with all of the in and out of the material and resulting skew. I find that the fences help, but can cause toomuch drag and then the belt jumps a tooth 'click' noise.... anyway, thanks for setting me straight. From now on I'll try to develop a CTRL-s habit.

Just to tease you all..... seems my Phlatscript toolbar has a couple extra icons, as above.
I do need to change the color on the pocket tool icon, the green looked so nice against black but that goes transparent, of course. I made the background on the group reorder button transparent too, much nicer, though I won't mind if someone makes some decent icons to fit the theme.

A couple of things to tweak still on the pocket tool, but it does work. It uses the current bit diameter and the step-over percentage defined for the 3D cut, and of course you can change the depth for each cut. You can even change the step-over between pockets. The {shift} and {control} keys still work too so you can pocket complex shapes by doing the outline first, then subdivide that and zigzag each one seperately. I'll probably release the code tomorrow...

Hey Swarfer. Great job on the mods!
I made another icon for the reorder groups. I would like some input before I try to make one for the pocket. Let me know if this would be good. I did my best to match the theme of the others.

oh wow that is NICE! that says 'reorder' so clearly.

on the pocket icon, I searched the web and found some fancy ones that look like a patch pocket on jeans, which is the outline I was going for, I got the color wrong though :) but whatever you come up with will probably be better than that, so go for it.

    thanks a lot

So, pockettool, reorder tool, and now the Phlatbones and Gplot have been integrated into SketchUcam (was Phlatscript)!
SketchUCam1.1 will be released soon with all these toys to play with.
ergo, 'TRUEPLUNGE' development has ended because 1.1 will install to the Plugins folder from a .RBZ file and certain things are no longer compatible and maintaining multiple branches is not what I volunteered for (-:
