OK....I just finished the build. Went together pretty well. I had to redo the nose....it was turned up too much.....

    It feels really solid.

I used a Grayson motor (I'll get the numbers tomorrow).
2 HS-45s (Karbonite gears) for the ailerons
1 HS-81MG for teh elevator (I tend to land on the control surface...)

    Looks lean and mean!

If I like the way she feels in the air I'll build another with rudders.

Awesome! I think your the first to build it. You got any pics?
On the nose, do you mean you sanded it up too much or did you modify something?
Can't wait to hear how your maiden goes.

I glued the "sandable" nose parts with an up turn. When I sanded it it looked like it had an up turned nose...so I sanded the heck out of it and got it looking OK.

    I'll get pics today.

I painted the canopy black but left the rest of the plane blue for now. With the amount of hot glue I used I am afraid to add a lot of paint too.... I'll build the next one lighter.

    Hey Thewz,
    Looks good to me.
On the 3 view of the F-22 I was using when I designed this plane, the nose looks like the bottom part has slightly more curve to it than the top part. So maybe yours is just fine :) Attached files [IMG]

If I build her well and she she flies great I might have to breakout my airbrush.....

I'm thinking the Thunderbirds theme or one of the others shown here. Attached files [IMG]

I think so too...that's the Thunderbirds theme. Since I spent 18 years on Air Force bases around the world I'm leaning towards that theme...

She flew pretty well but I need more power and a new battery. The Grayson motor pulls a lot of amps apparently. No I didn;t check it prior to flying....

    Result is a puffed lipo.....dang.

Off to get one capable of 30 AMPs. Maybe a 2000 or 2200. I need a little more weight in the nose anyway. Flying with an ounce of dead weight all the way forward. Figure a bigger batt will give me this and the additional power needed.

I liked the low speed handling too. No horrible tendacies that I could find.

Went full rates and pulled all the way back on the stick and held it. Fliped end over end.....pretty cool.

Glad to hear you got to fly it.
I'm curious why you would need more weight up front though. There is tons of room up front to move that battery. I use 20c 1300 packs with the grayson setup. My packs are a bit on the hot side when I'm done but they don't get puffy. I also don't fly full throttle all the time.

Oh thanks for those schemes. I searched all around for something like that and couldn't find anything. I do like the Thunderbird scheme too, but I think I am gonna play with one of those other schemes and just change the colors a bit.

I think they may be old as well.

I moved the batt as far as I could and still had to add an oz.

Remember I am running an HS-81MG for the elevator so I have some etra junk in the trunk....so to speak....

    Hi 3Dmon'
I am admiring your plane build instr, and was wondering if I am missing the demensions.
Is there another place to find them for cutting the parts.
Also was wondering if this is suited for the blue ffold from Lowes.
Thanks much, and it is one very nice looking plane

    Terry

    Hi Terry,

The PhlatCode is on the first post for use in your PhlatPrinter. Or you can use the SKP files on the first post and get the dimensions from wthin Sketchup. Mine 3DMON and Almostthere are all the Dow FFF (Fan fold foam) "the stuff from Lowes". Just make sure you use a CF tube in the wing for stiffness.

Thanks much. I found them due to your help.
I will see about getting this done .
Do you have other planes in the fff blue foam.
I figure most of the ff is 1/4 inch,
I have a bunch of 1/2, but I think this is still a little too heavey.
    Thanks again
    Terry
