    Hey guys,

I found a deal I think is great on eBay, if you need 68oz steppers.
I've been buying them for my projects.
I have spoke with the owner, very good guy and real nice.
He bought several 100 of these for a project that fell through, so when he's out of stock there gone.

I am in no way affiliated with the owner, I just wanted to pass on a good deal for anyone looking for these steppers.

    Hope this helps someone.

It's a good deal if you buy four or so, since shipping for one is $11 and each additional is free. I wonder what I could do with these. What project can I make that will need low torque steppers. Any idea out there?

I thought this too, but since all my stepper motor experience comes from my Phlatprinter I'm not sure. Could someone confirm that these are stout enough for a CNC hotwire system?

Buk I think they would work just fine, as long as your guide system is using a frictionless style bearing and not a slide bushing. The wire itself will have no real pressure against it, so it should be good.

I have seen guys using nema 17 for hotwires

I posted in the past a site that shows how to make a hot wire foam cutter using drawer slider. The ones that are 100% opening have normally balls that they run on for almost no friction. I don't remember what stepper the guy used but I think they were higher than 68 oz/i.

Nema 17 are usually in the 40oz range and to be honest I would go higher. I think you could get them to work but for a few dollars more you could get a nema 23 at close to 150 oz. That way you have no worries on the power to move the wire.
