mark, since the military have been using GPS for over 40 years, I'm sure that's dated and old technology to what they really have, and that we know knowledge of....your exactly rite about the unlimited funds....why ya think our taxes are so high?, lols.
Dont forget the very internet we are using here was originally a DOD experiment, I believe the military & the space program is responsible for a huge number of inventions we all take for granted today- or they borrowed/stole/bought the idea from who invented it
Here are a few pics of the A.T.O.M. V2 In progress The final build tomorrow night! Weight as of now 8.6 oz Mark Attached files

Coming Soon!
Well last nights show did not work out as expected, but I can say that I have a better understanding of the gyros now thanks to all of you guys helping out. We were sooo close! The motor was acting up too (sticking and getting super hot) The good news is Glen(Evil-Tunes) said I could borrow his 6 channel receiver and 7 channel TX So we will give it another go ASAP when we get it hooked up. Thanks again for being so helpful and understanding Mark
Here is another video view from the last quick update show. Sorry about my hair, I had my winter hat on and it always does that to my hair Mark
I can not wait to see more of the ATOM! The crazy hair just adds to your mad scientist enthusiasm for the project
Cool looking project Kwok The idea of the self righting is exactly what I want to make the ATOM do. I also like the way that you steer this by moving a weight around! Mark
That thing is firing at a minimum 5.56 mm rounds, probabally 7.62 or bigger, from multiple axis. Just think about the recoil from the weapons, having to adjust the hover.
Dorsal, I could not figure it out either, but I think this is the video that they are talking about. It's from the first page Mark
The video is cool but it's old "Star Wars" cold war tech designed for use in space. This was a limited test of the small rockets on the kill vehicle. Your design Mark is much more condusive for use in atmosphere. What you are building is more like this: http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2001/ast23jul_1.htm
Shaun, that was a cool film. Here's some pics of a back burner project I started before my 66" saucer. Attached files
Some how I missed this video. That little ball is a great drone craft! Thank for sharing Shaun LaVerne That looks cool! and it looks like it hovering in pic2? 3DMON is right, you should put this one back on the table Thanks guys Mark and Trish
Guys you were really onto something... Did you see this recent (japan ministry of defense ball drone RC project)? I believe its video of the one that was referenced in the Reuters story above. http://youtu.be/uRqcIPHMlfM http://youtu.be/PVo-LabY_o4
This one looks like we could make it pretty easily too! with today's gyros I think its possible Good find Matt Mark and Trish
