Good work ewo.... You're getting there fast with this build. I told you you'd beat me to the finish line LOL I'm looking forward to seeing you cutting some foam dude!!! The stepper access mod is a really good idea. It means you don't have to rip anything apart to change the steppers later on. Keep going, you're doing good. Best Regards, Julian (Fozzy The Bear)
Well I seam to be a bit behind with my build pictures.. To be Honest i didnt take a lot of pictures ! But of the things i found to be a problem for me i did. I will post those tomorrow. For now though i wanted to share something rare in my shop ! My wife actually removed the parts from the sheets for her snow flake's and my monkey! What a great help she turned out to be. I love my machine , and it is working perfectly Attached files
Very cool ewo!! Now, everyone is going to want snowflakes for Christmas Congratulations on getting the wife in the workshop!
Nice one ewo! Great to see Sharon helping out in the shop. Just be careful that you don't end up doing all the chores while she's cutting foam Si.
Sorry to see you wasted a sheet of foam ewo Thanks for posting pics anyway. Hope the next cut works out. Maybe I should have added a few more tabs
Dont worry about it Si. No big deal..... Another tab or two where the ailerons meet the fuse couldnt hurt but i worked it out. I now have a perfect wing. Now on to the fuse later tonight or tomorrow . Thanks again.......... Bruce
EWO, I don't know if you did this or not but, I had alot of problems before I did this. Sand or in my case file all the edges around the dremal hole and the foam alinement cutouts so the foam dosn't catch the lip. This saved alot of foam from catching and buggering up the sheets. I use alot less tabs now than before. Hope this helps E-T
E-T Thanks for the tip ! I will definatly be doing that....... It makes great cense ! Wish i had thought of that !
HEY SI. I see it is your birthday. Happy Birthday to you my friend and many more ! Just a couple pictures here for now of a wing i finally was able to get cut right ! Its bueatifull !! Now to do some sanding on my machines top to make it not so square ! ewo Attached files
Thanks ewo! Glad to see the code worked out for you, looks great! E-T, good call on sanding the slot. If people only ever do one mod then IMO that's the most important one.
I never seen that mod anywere. and i did do a lot of reading..... But i must confess i did a lot of just scanning through threads also........ :?
ewo, it's very easy to miss the minor mods. I think it was first mentioned in the original RCG thread nearly a year ago. I'm not sure i've seen it mentioned on the Phlatforum, so hopefully this will bring it to light so others can benefit too. I used a router to bevel the edges of my slot by about 45º all the way around, it looks good, but in hindsight I really removed too much wood and weakend the piece of MDF quite a bit. Sanding or filing the edges off slightly is probably a much better idea.
Thanks Si. I missed it shure enough. Anyways im sending my machine to the same point the foam got caught up.... The edges are sanded really good prolly 35 deg. I will through in a piece of foam when it gets there to see if it gets caught again , i ruined 2 wings when the foam got hung in the same spot.......... I will also video tape the results
Its a wing for an Arrow v3 Designed by Donatas Pauzuolis. He is 3Don on rcgroups. I will post the link : http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1004188 But look here after sanding the edges of the dremel cutout. Not once did it hang in either direction ........ My problem is solved Thanks E-T and Si. ewo
By the way, you don't need many (if any) tabs for the cuts that run in the X-direction (along the length of the foam), but you definitely need tabs for the cuts along the Y-axis (across the width of the foam). That's because the Y-cuts are the ones that can droop and snag the table, the X-cuts are just going back and forth for the ride. For arcs and such, I put the tabs where the cut is more along Y than X. And those little drop-out pieces still need tabs anyway. You can't do without tabs, but you don't want to spend an hour removing a lot of unnecessary ones, either. Oh, and ewo - those pockets look absolutely gnarly! Were they much trouble to get to cut correctly?
