Not long ago I upgraded from the original stepper motors initially offered with the controller board to the ones currently offered by Phlatboyz. That was a great improvement. Then I upgraded to a belt drive on the Y axis. Now it got faster. Still not too much power though. I could stall it with the push of a finger.

The X axis has run very well, capable of high speed and I could not stall it by hand force. How can I get the same results on the Y axis? The key is in the number of steps per inch. Looking at the reduction ratio on the X drive comes in around 7.22:1. If I can approximate that on the Y belt drive, my steps per inch would be increased greatly over the present setting. So I started doing some cyphering to see what kind of pulleys and belt I would need. Here is what I got, and it runs so much smoother in the Y axis and you cannot stall it. Easily runs up to 400 ipm. Don't get your fingers in the way!

Here is my parts list and cost for a belt, bearings, and two pulleys from SDP/SI.
