I agree I think one day we will be able to make our own props! Anyone up for the challenge of making a 10x4.7 slow fly prop mold 3d model Mark and Trish
All I just used the Phalt3D plugin to cut a block of foam out then I flipped it over and hollowed it out. This means huge things guys. We can cut out the outside of a wing flip it over and hollow it out with all the support and mounting structures directly in the wing no glue or misalignments and the ability to create super lightweight and strong wings. I would like to see a hot wire do that. I have some video but it needs some editing so you will have to tolerate just some stills atm. Edit: Added the video Attached files
Nice job Jovian! That is awesome Do you have the code/sketchup to share so we can see how you did the line up? Thanks Nick Mark and Trish
Apparently my laptop is not in the proper configuration. I have Sketchup Pro7 on it, but don't want to pay to upgrade to Pro 8. I expanded the zip file to the (hopefully proper)folder per directions in the first post, but I don't get the "overhead vs. underslung" option from the parameters page, so I guess I missed installing the PP1-2-PP3 update file on the laptop, somewhere along the way. Would somebody please post some simple steps that my partially drugged brain can follow, to get the laptop running? (btw, I thought I had my desktop working well, prior to this plugin, but it's tough to get to it using my walker). The Spirit is willing, but the Flesh is weak.
Dennis, the Phlat3D plugin has nothing to do with the overhead gantry option. For that, you will need to install the latest PhlatScript which is posted on the forum.
See? I couldn't even think of the name "PhlatScript". I grabbed it from viewtopic.php?f=98&t=2 so I should be good now. Thanks for the help, Flashsolutions. 06:40 - YEP, it works! Thanks for the help.
Well , It Phlat works I didn't draw the file i downloaded a meshed 3d object from somewhere a while back. Did some flipping of the part and resized to my liking ........ ran the script on the part and Whala ! Attached files
So, "a meshed 3d object ". Did it require you to use one of the Vectric programs to add it to the file, or is it a simple copy/paste, or do you Import the " meshed 3d object", or what? What file extension did It have, because my futile attempts have created a flat photo on top of the block of material that cannot be selected or manipulated at all, except to move it.
Dennis, all 3d objects in Sketchup are "meshed objects". Basically you can get a 3d model from the 3d warehouse or import a .stl, .dxf, etc file using a plugin. It sounds like your trying to do is create a 3d mesh from a picture. That's a separate plugin. After using that plugin then yes you could use the phlat 3d plugin to generate gcode from it. Bruce, that looks like it did really good.
Ohhh - So if I have a picture and THEN use some additional plugin to render that picture into a 3d mesh, THEN I could import the 3d Mesh like the rest of you have been doing? Would you happen to know what 3d Mesh plugin I would be looking for?
Here is the link to the bitmap to mesh plugin. http://www.phlatforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=103&t=2259 It all can be done within Sketchup.
Yep what Shawn said. I have a dxf file i ran this plugin on Dennis I am almost done with my second cut, the first was with an 1/8" bit the second after adjusting the paramaters with a 1/16 " bit. I will post some pictures after its done cutting
Oh! the one that marcomartim posted! Now I understand what step it occupies in the process! Sorry guyz - thinking is difficult and concentration is belabored with all these voices touching me, all these hands speaking to me, the rushing sounds from this brilliantly un-lit river flowing to and through me. God, I need to write so much down before it escapes! I have seen a glimpse of the other side, and the distinct words, "You are not allowed to cross yet!" The unimaginable splendor, the brilliant illumination. Life is really like a stinky mud-hole in comparison, and Life is Marvelous!
Just who is marcomartim ? Ahaha Dont think so . give me a couple minuts and i will find the link for the dxf Here it is http://www.osbornewood.com/cad-drawings.cfm?catagory=33 Its unusable as is , but with a little finess it can be set on the zero plane and the plugin will do its number on it :geek:
I have added a tutorial on using the Phlat3d script here. viewtopic.php?p=25097#p25097 . It also covers designing a hollowed out part
1/8 " bit part is on top , 1/16" hasnt been removed I need to tweak the step over me thinks. But up or down ? The cut with the 1/16" but is a lot smoother but still not to my liking But still pretty dang good Attached files
