    Hey Guyz,

I'm starting a new project. I'm building the Shumate Su-27. It is basically the same plane/plans as the Su-37 with a couple of omissions: No TV and no canards. The specs are as follows:

    wingspan: 30"
    edf: 2x 55mm EDFs
    motor: 2x 4300KV
    ESC: 2x 30Amp
    Battery: 3S 2200-2600 mAh 30C
    Servos: 2-elevon mix, 1-rudder Attached files Su-27 EDF Plans 100%.skp (1.6 MB)Â Su-27 Nose and Canopy.pdf (47.3 KB)Â

Here are some pictures of the build. The process is very similar to the Su-37 build except of a couple of things...

Here some more pictures of the progress. Slow going. Lots of beveling and test fitting and sanding...

Here are some more updated photos. Got the hinging done for the elevators and rudder. Almost done with the aileron hinges. Also laminated the nose cone and canopy, might as well get those out of the way.

Got around to start shaping the model after the maiden of course.

Here is the video of the maiden flight. I have to keep reminding myself that this model does not have thrust vectoring (TV) and that I always have to be on the throttle and not bleed the speed off too much :nervous: . Funny the larger, heavier Su-37 version has TV and is so much MORE maneuverable. Just have to adjust my flying style :D .

Congrats on the maiden flight, vicentel. It looked a little twitchy to me. Maybe a little more nose heavy?

It actually is a little nose heavy so I ended up moving the battery aft. The twitchiness is due to my dumb thumbs :D I was very nervous flying...perhaps increase the expo on my radio.

    Hey Guyz,

Just a quick update on my progress. I've managed to get it all painted, panel lined, insignia'd, weathered and clear coated <whew>. Anyway since this will be my "beater" plane I wasn't as anal with this one as with my bigger Su-37. Unfortunately I have to go to a family gathering so I won't be able to film the flight but hopefully I will get some time soon. The plane itself is not a replica of any plane. I just liked the scheme of Yellow 13: grey with yellow highlights. So I decided to make this one blue with orange highlights. I'm calling it Orange 98. Hope you guys like it

    Thanks,
    Vic

Design so nice I built it twice. Attached files [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Here is a video with Orange 98 painted. I know it starts off as the unpainted version but trust me, you'll want to continue watching the video :questions:

Again thanks to all you guys for all your help, tips and tricks. I couldn't have done it without you. This was an awesome journey...and it's only going to get better :D
