It appears (to me) that SketchUp 7 and 8 are not compatible. Is there a way to transfer existing files in SketchUp 7 over to SketchUp 8? I tried a time or two, and no go.

Once you open a SU7 file in SU8 and save it, it is converted to SU8 format. To change a SU8 file back to SU7 it must be opened in SU8, goto FILE > SAVE AS and at the bottom of the dialog screen, click the "Save as file type" drop-down menu and select the version of SU that you want the file saved as.

Version SU7 and below files can be opened in SU8 but it's not backwards compatible.

Thanks! I was hoping I did not have to scrap a bunch of stuff. I appreciate the information. I am still very much into the learning process of working with SketchUP. I have just spent about four days doing what most of you guys could do in a couple of hours. I am attempting to create a SketchUP file from hand=drawn plans and I think I am nearly there, only need one more part. Then the test will be to make it a Gcode and see what fits when I cut it out. I expect some problems but I hope not too many.
