If your camera has a macro mode, then that's what you need for close up pictures. And lots of light, so it's a quick exposure.

    It's a team effort ;)

Here are some data sheets linked from digikey
815 black ICs in tsknutsen's pics
    CNY17F-4 from kyyu's pic.

I haven't found the part for the white chip in tsknutsen
's pic of good isolators. The interesting thing is all the black ones in the good and bad pic appear to be from the same manufacturer time period and factory. That leads me to believe the "bad" part is the use of the 815 where the white one should be. I wonder if they ran out of a better spec'd chip (white one) and just used the 815 (black one) in its place. Kind of hard to tell without a schematic or a board on hand to test.

    The parts in kyyu
's pic are not pin compatible with the newer boards.

Jeff, Don't feel bad. I just got an email back from Hector as well. Brandy walked out the door with the good camera (Nikon D5000) just about 5 minutes before I got the email, so I had to use the old Canon, which isn't nearly as good with a Macro shot..took me about 15 tries to get it readable!

My prob is I can't hold tha cam as steady as I used to, and it's an old Fuji S3100. I had to swap with the daughter the ''total piece O crap'' camera just to use the Fuji.

Any way if this all works out I'll have a board and steppers ready to go when the Balsa Buddy comes out. YEEEEEE HAWWW!!

What address are you using for Hector? I've tried both the Easy-CNC contact and the hotmail address, but still no reply.

automecanica@hotmail.com no h in mecanica. This is the addy I have been using. I was shocked to get replies and service so late on a Saturday. Even though it's Sunday, I'd still give it a go.

    Thanks Tim and foamlvr,

I've sent a third try to him using the address you gave me. I bout my kit on 16 Apr so it's right in line with the others having the bad chips.

    We'll see how it goes.

    Thanks again,
    Dell
