Ok as you probably understood i didnt see this answer before entering my second bridge entry. Also im curious about my first entry as you said something about span bracing. I dont mind re doing my plans, or making a brand new one if they are not up to the rule's standard.

Is it OK if I used the original template, then copy over the new roadway so I do not have to re-tab everything? :p

    tsknutsen,
It looks like the first one will not make the cut unless you are able to make spans from the sides not greater then 1". I suppose it could be done but it would not be the same looking bridge at all.
The second one I have to say is very cool! and it meets the 1" or under spans rule. There is one problem I see though. You are wider then the allowed 6" roadway. I think you could move the spans to the inside and you would be fine.
I would suggest that you rework the second one and make that your official entry. :)

Erik that would be fine :)

I have to say guys these are some advanced designs! :) Great job everyone
    Thank you
    Mark and Trish

    Mark,
You just said that tsknutsen's design is wider then the allowed 6" roadway.
I just looked at my design and it is 6.5" wide.
Do you want me to redo it so it will be in the allowed 6"

Oh, yeah. I'm curious, are you going to use the winning bridge for something specific or? Why bridges?

Maybe he needs a design for the foot-bridge over the Coy Pond he's gonna build for Trish this Summer.

(Man, if I'm not in trouble now, I will be when he reads this. It's 11 days early for April Fools Day! )

    Dorsal and kram242,

I probably didnt get that joke at all.. But it would be a huge pond you'd have to build if the winning bridge where meant to be buildt in scale :D (which by all means it should be :p) ... So to get the bridge minimum limit of 2" to somewhere around 6,9' high, the pond would have to be 124,2' wide.. also the foam would have to be 10,4" thick ....

So please tell me that this is the reason this competition where to make a bridge :D That would be so awesome :D:D:D

Maybe a cool way to really test that big cnc machine of yours Mark?

I wish it were! :D I tried to build a bridge in the yard for a small stream I wanted to build through the backyard but Trish didn't like the idea and I can't blame her really. Its just something I thought would be cool to have.
As for making on to that scale on the big machine. It would be hard to do because you can only get 2" of z height with the dust collector on it so you would have to make a lot of stacked cuts :) It would be cool though :)

What time does the live show start anyways? I seem to always have missed most of it when I do tune in.
