Thought I'd post the gcode for anyone else who wants to give this a shot. Attached files 3dCuttingExperimentsOG_GCODE.zip (2.1 MB)Â
This turned out awesome Toxic! I have to have one of these Thank you for sharing the pictures and code with us. Nice job Mark and Trish
I cut this a while ago on the phlatprinter but it sat on the shelf until a few days ago. Just finished multiple maidens with a variety of packs. Deltas are notoriously more unforgiving when it comes to CG, but I think I have it dialed in pretty good-at least with one size pack. Of course, not before hanging it in a tree, sticking it on the neighbors roof, and grinding off a bit of foam on the asphalt. I plan to add skids to the underside to help with the durability as it looks like its gonna be a ragamuffin plane before too long. Flys nice when the CG is just right. LEDs are embedded so the EPP mostly glows and it is easy on the eyes but still very visible. Low speed is actually very good for a delta, but turns are like most "Pizza Box Flyers"-tricky to master as you usually have to feed a bit of elevator and give it some bank to come out of the turn, otherwise it will slop-out. Pretty much all low end gear: * 9mm EPP #1.3 * 6mm Depron control horns * 2 9gr HXT900s * 1 6gr HXT500 * 1500kv Blue Wonder w/GWS 8x4.3 * Spektrum 6210E clone (ebay) * Hobbywing 18a ESC * 3S 360 Rhinos seem to be the right battery for the plane. Quadcopter follies: I've been dabbling in quadcoptes for the last few weeks. Started with the QSC quad that Mike "Crash" posted here. Worked good for testing out the DIY QSC board, however, craft plywood is pretty weak and does not hold up to the testing very well. So I took advantage of the holiday weekend at home to download the open source frame "Arducopter" and make some small customizations to allow the QSC board to be mounted to it. Obtained a sheet of .093 and .060 G-10 at a local plastics supplier. Plan was to cut the middle platform pieces out of the thicker .093 and the motor mounts out of the thinner stuff. I did have to clean up the holes with the dremel since the P3 did not cope with the backlash exceptionally well.... Chris, that think looks AWESOME! Great job, and thanks for sharing your work here. I have a feeling that I'll be building one of these, too.
Update! Ready to go out and fly a few more packs in it. Almost have it dialed in. I was getting *really* frustrated with it as it was pretty unstable and almost unflyable. Did a little more research and it turns out that these original WMP are extremely sensitive to vibration and really need to be dampened out mechanically. I ended up unbolting the board and placing a 1.5cm open cell foam pad under it. Secured it with a wing rubber band fairly loosely. Now the thing is really close to being perfectly static aside from wind!
Looking good man. I've been finding the exact same thing about vibrations. With my tri I didn't notice it so much but since I've been trying to get my quad going it has been a real pain.
Thanks for the feedback! I taped my Droid phone to my quad for giggles and chased a FB around on Sunday:
Great stuff Chris! What a cool project from start to finish. Its funny to listen to the kidz narration of the video Great job guyz! Mark and Trish
A few more, testing the 1.8 code and some mechanical improvements... MultiWii 1.8 code autolevel testing and demo: MultiWii 1.8 Acro mode short flight with loops and rolls:
Looking good man! I've been flying the heck out of my quad too. I need to get some video up. I'm still running 1.7 but the next one I build is gonna get 1.8.
You guys look like your having a blast out there! I need to rebuild, I must fly! All these videos latley have really gotten me hyped to get my quad back in the air. Nice video and flying Chris and Ben! Mark and Trish
Nice job Chris! Looks like it works great and is super strong! Thank you for sharing, looking forward to seeing this one in the air. Mark and Trish
