Twisted Rope

    This is based on a 3d rope model found on the 3dwarehouse.
    I thought it would look cool to bring it into the real world with the Phlatprinter and it does :D

    Ok I have the gcode file but not the model
    So is you want to try it out go for it.
    1/8th" bit

    I am curious about the process:

    in sketchup did you model the rope, or just one slice that you duplicated?

    you use a round center hole and offset them manually right?

    why not use a square hole, square stick, and have sketchup do the angle per slice for you...
    of course it requires using the correct slice when you glue after, but t would be better in my opinion.

    I wonder if having we could have sketchup auto numerate and engrave each part so not to confuse them at assembly would still be invisible if on the flat side of the slice

    It would be cool out of thin plexi that you could have LEDs shining up into it :D

    That is a good idea (square hole) I think it would work just fine.
    As for numbering the slicer3 and the slice modeler plugins will number your parts and lay them flat for you :)
