Growing up I was a big fan of Robotech, specifically the Macross Saga. This series introduced to the world the concept of a transforming giant robot. I believe it even pre-dates the Transformers saga but not Gundam. Anyway I was intrigued by the jet design because it so closely resembled the F-14 Tomcat. Since my foray into foam and EDFs I've always wanted to design an EDF conversion of the MDC F-14 (Maybz's design). Anyway I'm finally getting around to doing it. My original desires are to have a twin EDF (either 64mm or 55mm) parkjet with thrust vectoring (on the roll and pitch). So far I've got a preliminary Sketchup design, electronics and some specs:

    1. Wingspan: full sweep-28", full forward - 40"
    2. EDF - leaning on 2x 55mm EDF
    3. ESC - 2x 30Amp ESC with BEC
    4. Servos - 2x Elevon/TV, 1 Rudder, 1 swingwing
    5. Channels - 5 : Elevon/TV, Rudder, throttle, swingwing
    6. AUW - 30-36 oz
    7. Static thrust - 40oz
    8. Battery - 3S 2200-2650mAh 30C

I did have to make a compromise on the elevator. The actual veritech fighter (VF-0B Phoenix) do not have them but use the vectored thrust instead. Since this is experimental for me I plan on adding them in to get a baseline and gradually remove them as I get more familiar with the aircraft. Also, there is no point in reinventing the wheel so I'm going to be incorporating the MDC swingwing mechanism in this plane as well. Here are some initial mock ups.

    Thanks,

Thanks Bro! All I have left is the EDF mounts and then I get to explode the model and make the parts and then the GCode. But it still feels like a long time from now. Did you check out my Su-27 build?

This is going to be SWEET! I really like the way you made the exhaust nozzles this thing is going to roll like a tornado with the wings tucked in! :)
