Hey guys with three cool looking projects already roughly SketchUped I want to know what the PhlatClub wants built first. I will build all of them but the order they finish in is the order I will build them in. The X-31 would be the easiest to build and take a 70mm fan, and be fairly fast. The F-20 will be made out of quite a few parts and use the most foam but with the 500 watt 70mm fan it should be almost as fast as the X-31. Lastly the ARES will require the most extra cad work from its current state and use a 55mm fan. I think they all would be neat models so I am leaving it up to you!

p.s. You only have a week to vote so get them in! Attached files [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

I voted for the F20, but I think these are all really good. I lack a 55mm fan though, so it's likely I would not build it in the near future... But I would also be tempted to scale it to fit the fan I do have if my MiG does not work out!

The X-31 and F-20 are for a 500 watt 70mm fan. The ARES is the only one for 55mm fan, I forgot to mention that!

It is cool Mark, I like them all! I just can't wait to get started!! The F-20 is fairly big so I would say you need a 350-500+ watt motor for your fan if you want jam. I think 200 watts would fly it around if you keep it light.

Mark: I have just one 70mm fan and motor. I ordered this one http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=7887 It pulls more watts than it says, I get nearly 50A out of mine. The rotor did need to be balanced and broken it. The blades keep stretching and I had to rebalance it every time. After 5 packs it seems to be stable now. I can not get it perfect, I think the bearings in the motor are the problem. I can't complain about a $21 500 watt fan and motor.

The F-20 won the X-31 came in second and the ARES came in last. Thank you all for voting, I would have thought the X-31 would have won but the people have spoken. The cad refinement has already started and the foam F-20 work will start soon after Christmas.

Thanks guys it is nice to have such a cool place to talk to one another!

Not yet but the F-20 is going to be built soon. It is always on my mind but I need to buy a bunch of Depron first!

2.....frick....that's what 30-32 credits....does your school charge you more for taking so many credits at one time? At UH you would have to beg the chair to go more than 16 credits in a semester.....

    What's your major?

My major is liberal studies, I am studying to become a teacher. I am going to one college on campus and one online, it is hard. I do have to jump through hoops to take so many classes. I don't think I will take as many next year. I need more time to build planes lol.

Teacher......I would have thought your area of study was engineering. Takes a special kind of person to become a teacher. :ugeek:

Spad, you should go for it. I had 2 kids, a mortgage, and was working a full time + OT job and went back to school to complete my degree. I don't have ADHD......I'm plain old thick headed.....
